Maye Primera es una periodista multimedia bilingüe y autora radicada en Los Ángeles.

Ha trabajado como reportera y editora durante más de 20 años, cubriendo política, inmigración, fronteras, derechos humanos y violencia en América Latina y Estados Unidos. Se desempeñó como gerente de proyectos en el Centro Annenberg de Periodismo de Salud de la USC, y de 2015 a 2021 trabajó como productora de contenido en NBCUniversal Telemundo, y como editora senior para América Latina en Univision News Digital.

Prior to that she was correspondent in the Caribbean and Venezuela for the Spanish newspaper El País, and editor-in-chief of the Venezuelan newspaper TalCual. She has published three books and a podcast about Venezuela’s recent history, and her narrative work has been featured in several non-fiction anthologies.

Su trabajo ha recibido un Premio Emmy de Noticias y Documentales, el Premio Hillman, el Premio RFK de Periodismo de Derechos Humanos, los Premios Edward Murrow, el Premio Rey de España y el Premio Ortega y Gasset. Primera también formó parte de la cohorte inaugural del Programa Ejecutivo en Innovación y Liderazgo de Noticias 2021 en la Escuela de Posgrado de Periodismo Craig Newmark.
